Spring has FINALLY sprung, and that means it’s PINK BALL TIME! We are very excited to be throwing our FIFTH annual Pink Ball. We loved our new venue last year, and are happy to announce that we have been allowed back for Pink Ball 2017.
We are switching it up a bit and moving the Pink Ball to a SATURDAY night this year, so mark your calendars for Saturday, June 10th. Bring your friends and family to this fun and fabulous event at the Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, 7pm. There will be food, music, dancing, auctions, raffles, the ever popular photo booth, and more!
And remember, all that fun is for an AMAZING cause. Read below for information on our Pink Ball honorees.
Martha Lingham is our first honoree. Martha came to us via our long time bootcamp vet, Suzie Sonnenberg. Martha and Suzie work together helping out pets everywhere at IVG Metrowest Veterinary Hospital. Martha, who recently turned 30, is in her second round of cancer fighting. In 2013, Martha was diagnosed with a soft tissue sarcoma in her right thigh. Treatment was radiation, surgery, and a 3 month recovery. Three years later, Sept of last year, Martha found a small lump in her breast. After a biopsy she found out it was in fact breast cancer. After a full body scan, they also found a nodule in her lung. Before starting any form of treatment, Martha had genetic testing done and found out that she had the BRCA1 and TP53 genes, each side of her family had genetic mutations, and both had been passed on to her. The recently engaged Martha, fast tracked her wedding, and her and her love, Walter, were married in two weeks after diagnosis, on Oct 29th. A few weeks later, Martha had surgery to remove the nodule in her lung, and then in December 2016, Martha started her chemo. We met Martha a few weeks ago, soon after her double mastectomy, and she is sweet, beautiful, and courageous. We are so excited to be honoring her at our Pink Ball!
Marci Reed came to us by way of Jess Leip, our 2014 honoree. Once you meet Marci, you will love her. She is one kick ass lady. Marci was diagnosed 4 years ago with Stage IV breast cancer. After going and back and forth with her primary care physician for some time reporting bone pain, he finally sent her to a Rheumatoid Arthritis specialist, who thankfully had the sense to order her a bone scan. The scan showed many lesions which turned out to be breast cancer that had metastasized throughout her body. Marci receives monthly treatments, and takes daily medication, but still continues to work doing what she loves as an nurse at Beth Israel. She is eager to live life to the fullest, and is determined not to let this get her down. We are so happy we got to meet Marci, and we are honored to honor her!
